Answered question

Neoload 5.3, 5.5 and 6.0 all crash after clicking "Open project". Anyone?

Worked before. Only obvious change: got Windows10 Creators update. Anyone any ideas? No entries in windows logs. Neoload process just vanishes without a trace. Neoload last logfiles lines only indicate successful startup. Also happens when project folder is empty.

That sounds to be a JAVA bug. Here is a link from their bug tool: http://bugs.java.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=JDK-8179014

It seems that it's reproducible only if the "God mode" to display some short cuts like described in the bug is enabled. Is it your case?

Also by switching the look and feel of the UI under the NeoLoad preferences it should also workaround that issue.

That bug is fixed in JDK 1.9 but if i'm not mistaken it's not in JDK 1.8.0_xx

It seems to be a JVM crash. Could you check at the root installation folder of NeoLoad if you have any hs_pid_err*** log files?

Hi Nouredine, I'm back from a few days of, so I just now found your answer. Thanks for that. I'm not sure I handle this forum UI correct, so if my reaction pops up in a funny place, that's why. Yes I found such log files, and at the top they mention:

# A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
#
# EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x0000000050686adf, pid=2464, tid=0x00000000000012a4

after which some 550 lines of gibberish follow. Any help unscrambling them would be appreciated.

Hi Nouredine, I'd be happy to. Find attached a zip archive containing two 6.0 logs. In de meantime, for test I installed NeoLoad 6 on a win2012 VM where it runs without problems. It looks like the promblem is Win10 specific or "me" specific ;-)

Hi Nouredine,

You're right! After reading the bugdescription on the Oracle site I moved the Godmode icon from my desktop and Neoload worked like a charm again.
I should have probably found that out myself with more googling, but that's for the next time. Thanks a lot for your help. I had no idea the Godmode Icon could be the culprit. I drag that one around since Windows 2000 or so and it never made problems. As far as Java is concerned, I now can simply wait for the next update to come around I guess.
Thanks & Greetings,
Rob
